It’s almost Christmas in Cleveland. The NFL Draft is tomorrow, and nothing excites Browns fans more than the chance to draft a franchise-changing player. To be clear, the team never does, but hey, just wait till next year.
With only about 30 hours to go before decision time begins, it’s time for a final round of “what are they gonna do?”
All reports seem to have the Browns taking Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett with the first-overall pick.
This is a good move. Could he flop? Absolutely. But this isn’t an Oakland-type, “What were they thinking” kind of move.
Among most experts and general managers, Garrett is the consensus number-one choice. Here’s hoping the Browns take him.
As far as pick 12 goes, I’d be floored if Cleveland selects a player in that slot. I expect a trade up into the first five or six picks to take UNC quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. That being said, there’s rumors that quarterback guru and head coach Hue Jackson isn’t sold on Trubisky. If that’s really the case, who knows what will happen.
I’ll leave it at this: expect Garrett and Trubisky to don the brown and orange next year. But bear in mind we’re talking about the Browns here, so if you’re writing those pick into next year’s roster right now, do it in pencil.
